Can Everyone Benefit From This Silence?

From: Talks with Sri Ramana Maharshi, Talk 569.
Question: Can everyone benefit from this silence?

Bhagavan:
Silence is the true upadesa. (Teaching)
It is the perfect upadesa.
It is suited only for the most advanced seeker.
The others are unable to draw full inspiration from it.
Therefore they require words to explain the Truth.
But Truth is beyond words.
It does not admit of explanation.
All that is possible to do
is only to indicate It.
How is that to be done?

In this meditative Satsang talk by Tom, he gently guides us with words, presence and silence towards meeting and imbibing Ramana’s highest teaching.

The excellent path ‘Who Am I?’ (Parts 1 and 2) | Self-Enquiry guidance and support| Ramana Maharshi

After the invocation to Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi, Tom offers a vital talk on what Ramana discovered as the foremost path of all — Self-Inquiry, the question “Who am I?”.

He invites us to reflect: What path are we really following? With vivid metaphors and images, Tom illuminates how the practice of Self-Inquiry is unlike any other activity, spiritual or worldly. Instead of planning, scheming, playing, creating… we turn toward the “I” itself — the doer we believe ourselves to be. This is the source of all problems, the very root of suffering.

Though this is deeply challenging for the mind, Tom reminds us that awakening to our true nature is the freedom we long for. Nothing special is required; by opening up to the question, “Who Am I?” along with sacred silence and Bhagavan’s grace, liberation shines and delusion and ignorance are seen to have never occurred.

Here is Part 1:

In this second part, Tom responds with clarifications and pointers to help deepen understanding. If you have your own reflections or questions, you’re welcome to share them in the comments below.

The Art of Spiritual Guidance

Have you ever wondered if you’re really letting go and letting your higher power lead the way? What of spiritual guidance? In today’s conversation, we dive into how surrendering — really handing things over — can bring a surprising sense of happiness and ease. If you’ve ever struggled with wanting things to turn out a certain way, or found it hard to trust that things are truly being taken care of, this video is for you.

The Highest Teaching That Is Always With You

Welcome to this moment of Satsang. In today’s gathering, Tom shares the essence of the Highest Teaching — the truth that is always with us, closer than we can imagine with our minds. He reminds us that liberation from suffering and delusion isn’t something we accomplish on our own; true freedom arises through awakening to our True Nature.

To awaken to who we truly are, we must open up to connection, love, devotion, and silence. At our core, peace is our true nature. For many on this path, the guidance of Bhagavan Ramana, our beloved Guru, reveals the unchanging presence within—the heart’s ever-known reality.

Words and teachings are only signposts, pointing to a silent wisdom that cannot be spoken but is always present. Who we truly are is deeper than any concept and prior to all words. To realize this, Tom invites us to draw back the veil, to reveal what lives in the heart — the eternal flame of being in the hearth of our own true Self.

This is an invitation to truth, to life eternal, to beauty, peace, love, and light—so simple, so profound.
