The Hidden Unity in Ramana Maharshi’s Teachings

The hidden unity in Ramana Maharshi’s teaching only becomes clear when you see what is—and isn’t—liberation.

Discover the hidden unity in Ramana Maharshi’s teaching in this edited satsang with Tom Das—bringing together manonasa, manolaya, and manifestation, while clearly revealing their true place.

Manonasa—the dissolution of the mind—is the ultimate truth: liberation itself, the Self. It is not a state or experience, but the recognition that the mind, ego, and world never truly arose.

In contrast, manolaya (temporary quiet mind) and manifestation both belong to Maya. They can appear helpful on the path, but they are not liberation and can become obstacles if misunderstood or clung to.

This satsang cuts through these distinctions with precision. States of peace, stillness, or samadhi are not denied—but they are not the goal. Likewise, as the mind quiets, life may appear to align more harmoniously, but this too remains within the realm of appearance.

Through Self-enquiry (Atma Vichara), attention turns away from all states, experiences, and outcomes, and toward the subject: Who am I? This alone reveals what is always present.

As Tom responds to different Satsang members who each are met where they are on the path, nothing is rejected—but everything is seen in its proper place. The relative may unfold, but the absolute alone is real.
This talk explores:

Why manonasa alone is liberation
The limitation of manolaya (quiet mind states)
Why manifestation remains within Maya
How Self-enquiry dissolves the ego at its root
Why sadhana (spiritual practice) is essential, even though the Self is already ever-free
If you are drawn to Ramana Maharshi and direct realization, this satsang offers a clear and uncompromising pointing to what is always here.

This video was recorded live during a Satsang meeting with Tom Das on June 25th, 2026 and put together by volunteers.
