New Testimonial – Sumit

In my spiritual journey, after 7 years of dabbling with Vedanta on and off, the best thing that happened was I came across Bhagavaan Ramana’s teachings. Then going through Bhagvaan’s literature myself for a few months, the best thing that happened was coming across Tom. Like Bhagvaan’s teachings represent the best of Advaita Vedanta recast in a much more practical and direct manner, Tom takes the finest of Bhagvaan’s literature and focuses on the most essential points which helps drive them through our thick layer of mental conditionings to effect faster spiritual progress. He avoids going into lengthy philosophical discussions about Bhagvaan’s verses which might satisfy a scholar but might make no dent in Maya’s stronghold on our minds.

He meets us at whichever stage we are in our spiritual journey rather than speaking from a high podium. He will work on our personality issues too (in 1:1s) very effectively which helps free up the mental energy to focus on our sadhana.

His Satsangs have a powerful effect of calming the mind and driving home the simple but profound teachings of “turning within” and surrendering to Bhagvaan. After his satsangs, we walk away with increased clarity about the path, renewed confidence in our ability to abide as the Self and that liberation is possible in this very life.

I love Tom’s guided meditations Youtube videos (my favorite:Turn Within & Be Still) with carefully chosen verses from Guru Vachaka Kovai representing Bhagavan’s core teachings. The conviction with which Tom reads them significantly enhances the chances that the verses might trigger a real intuition in you; all the chosen verses packed with power hence even if a single verse sticks with you, it will go a long way in your spiritual journey.

I strongly recommend folks to go through “Introductory articles” on tomdas.com and Michael Langford books in his recommended reading list – they will make a profound impact on you. Team of Bhagvaan & Tom has really made the path to liberation accessible for me and increased my conviction in it – I will always remain grateful to them.

New Testimonial – Claire

Tom speaks only from love. My heart can feel this and it is this resonance that has made our 1:1 sessions so powerful. Through Tom, this love gently reveals the lies of the ego. There is no judgement, just the opportunity to let go and rest in truth; in peace. This pure and unconditional love cuts through the darkness of past traumas, unconscious beliefs and fears.

I came to Tom not being able to trust love and through a journey of 6 sessions (which went in many different directions and covered many different aspects of my life) I have experienced the most profound healing. The mind still has the capacity to take me out and get lost in the drama of illusion, but now I am always able to return to love and find peace.

Instead of not trusting love, I now know with every fibre of my being that love is the ONLY thing I can trust. I feel so incredibly blessed to have met and worked with this amazing Being called Tom

New Testimonial – Achlys

Having discovered Bhagavān Sri Ramana and his teachings online, I quickly consumed as much information about his teachings as possible. I found Tom, his YouTube and his website a few months later, and was awed (and continue to be to this day) by the breadth and accessibility of the material. I came in with fixed ideas about how a “liberated sage” or “spiritual teacher” should behave, speak or look like, ideas that have no basis in reality, as an aura of peace and stillness is a better identifier of a genuine teacher than any behaviour – an aura which I feel is palpable when coming in touch with Tom and his sharing. However, Tom charging money for satsangs and 1:1 meetings initially did make me somewhat suspicious of him.

Despite this, Tom makes a concerted effort to accommodate low or no-income seekers by publishing all his writings for free, have download links to books on the recommended reading list and refusing to price anyone out of attending satsang, all you have to do is email him to let him know. With the recent addition of the 1:1 fund, where satsang attendees are free to, if they so choose, generously contribute in order to allow those without the means to pay access to the meetings, I’ve had the privilege to take advantage of this scheme, by which I am humbled, and for which I am grateful.

Tom as a teacher and person in general is very kind, warm, and easy to chat to, our session at times felt more like hanging out with a close friend rather than some sort of super serious spiritual talk. His unique blend of affirming where you stand and making you feel secure while still challenging your mind’s patterns and beliefs and encouraging you to re-frame and re-examine ideas and behaviours you struggle with make him an excellent fit for seekers who struggle with anxiety, depression or low self-esteem.

While often these non-dual teachings can feel like having the rug pulled out from under your feet out of nowhere, in my experience, Tom’s gentle approach can leave you feeling (in the short term) like not a lot has actually happened or changed, but over time, you notice the subtle differences in the way you think, practice and interact with the teachings and life at large. This extremely fundamentally sound approach focuses not on the “bells and whistles” one may associate with spirituality, but rather on genuinely bringing the seeker towards peace and contentment in their daily life.

After attending satsang regularly for around 13 months now, I can tell it’s making a huge difference in terms of reducing negativity and suffering I was experiencing. The ease and convenience of accessing Tom’s presence 2x weekly is just the cherry on top. If any of this sounds remotely interesting to you, I highly recommend you check it out – we’re very privileged to have such a profound source of spiritual support a few clicks away. Between the YouTube channel, blog posts, recommended reading texts, zoom satsangs and 1:1 meetings, it’s very simple to slowly empty your mind of the harmful and extraneous and fill it with stillness and intense desire for liberation, regardless of your life situation.

New testimonial – Neha

I started with Tom’s Satsang after coming across his website during an online search. At the time, I had no clue that I would be attending his Satsang regularly. I previously read a few books about Sri Ramana Maharshi but I think I was seeking a deeper understanding of the teachings.

Tom’s Satsang introduced me to Silence and connection to our inner peace. I will say it’s the most wonderful teaching I have ever received. We often find answers to our questions just by being present in the Satsang. I have read this before I am Self. But earlier it was just a statement. I have now started to feel more confident and have faith in myself.

The way he explains is simple and clear. His blogs are condensed and wonderful. I have always found a blog that deepens my understanding. In our one-to-one meetings, I have evolved and he has been very kind and patient to help me come to my conclusions. I am slowly finding answers to all my questions and it feels all correct. Thank you. Tom, I am always grateful for your insights, clarifications and our discussions.

New Testimonial – Markus

Here is a ‘new’ testimonial – it was written some months ago but I am only just uploading it to tomdas.com, please take a look – more testimonials can be found using the menu above:

Love of Bhagavan can be felt in Tom’s presence. That presence pierces through all the layers of the mind, straight to the heart. The silence in satsangs is reforming us, making our egos an offering for the Self to absorb. The first great event in this life was to come to know that Bhagavan Ramana loves me and wants to consume my ego. The second great event was to come to a satsang held by Tom and to start attending regularly.

Tom’s website and YouTube channel are a treasure trove that provides everything needed, whether one is new to spiritual life or already a seasoned seeker. Satsang gifts us a spiritual home, a place to share and heal, and to realize the immaculate truth that Is. The meetings are the highlights of my week. Through the powerful presence, we are maturing; suffering and worldliness fall away, and the essential practice is eventually established: to let go of body–mind–world and to dive within, to be with our Self.

Eternal gratitude to Tom, through whom we can intuit the loving presence of Bhagavan. I can wholeheartedly recommend the satsangs for anyone who longs for happiness and peace.

Through Tom I’ve found a connection with Sri Ramana Maharshi. That’s made all the difference. Miracles happen regularly.

Here is a testmonial from Anne that she very kindly wrote some months ago for me, but I have only recently got around to putting up onto tomdas.com (tomdas.com/testimonials):

Through Tom I’ve found a connection with Sri Ramana Maharshi. That’s made all the difference. It feels like there’s guidance that comes from beyond my own mind. I feel that my own mind can’t be trusted, that following the deeper intuition of the heart is the only way forward. That can only be done by quietening the mind and quietening the mind can only be done by self-inquiry. This has been transformative.
Miracles happen regularly and they are not miracles, but just the way it is. God is speaking directly to me through the heart and I have a sense of what direction to go in, what direction not to go in. It’s like having an inner compass. My questions and doubts are answered internally (though ‘internal’ and ‘external’ don’t make sense). I realise I don’t have any worries.
I’m reading scripture in a way I never have before and I’m reading it because I want to, not because I ought to. There’s a pull towards it, not a push. The scripture seems to have some direct line to the teacher, the teacher within. It settles the mind. Tom taught me through silence, through words, through laughter, through transmission (for want of a better word) that I’m OK.
He taught me to have faith, to trust that intuition, to put down the load I’ve been carrying and allow Bhagavan (the Beloved) to carry it for me. It’s been a huge release. My mind whirls sometimes at the immensity of it and then there’s silence. I can sit in silence and look at a garden. That’s the best thing. It’s a gift.

Guidance and Strength to do Self Enquiry

Over the last few months several people have wrote testimonials for me which I have only just got around to putting onto tomdas.com (tomdas.com/testimonials). Here is what Hesther writes about attending Satsang and occasional 1 to 1 meetings with me:

I don’t understand how it works, but Tom’s guidance gives me added strength and energy to do Self-enquiry, to study and to meditate. I feel I am not alone on this path. The recommended readings, the satsangs, and the occasional 1-1 meetings are all so trustworthy.
Instead of confronting me with my ‘short-comings’ as a seeker I feel free, validated and encouraged to follow my path. The path is full of paradoxes, that Tom allows for, enhancing the sense of freedom and trust that I have. I have never felt that I am being pushed into a mould that fits his vision. On the contrary, he doesn’t fill in the blanks that I have but gives me pointers so that I can discover things in my own experience. He doesn’t give me direct advice so much as that he seems to create a context in which I blossom as a seeker of spiritual truth.
Thank you so much for all your help and guidance, love,
Hesther, Portugal

A recent testimonial

I am always grateful to receive a testimonial – here is a recent testimonial I received from someone – note that ‘Guru’ simply means teacher – see here for more testimonials:

Tom is the only living Guru that I have met who speaks directly and one pointedly to the path and method of Sri Ramana. I came across Tom’s teachings while seeking some answers to questions about Sri Ramana’s methods applied to a householder’s life. After only a few 1 on 1 sessions I had strong clarity on how to deal with the obstacles I was running into. And I felt this sense of self confidence or confidence in my SELF that was being overlooked in the past. Through his loving acceptance of wherever I was, Tom kept bringing me back to the true Guru that is inside of me. The SELF. Along the way he also reminded me to honor my feelings and to drop self-judgment – another way of reinforcing my true self.

I also appreciated that Tom pointed me to the most relevant and effective texts amongst the sea of reading that is out there. It felt like every time he referred me to a text, that was exactly what I needed in that moment.

He helped me understand the true meaning of the texts and how to interpret them the way Sri Ramana had meant them, while still making it applicable to my busy lifestyle.

I’m deeply grateful to Tom’s guidance and teaching and his highly scientific and logical approach to the path of liberation.

A testimonial from someone who recently struggled with depression & anxiety

I recently received a lovely testimonial from Michael who unfortunately suffered from anxiety and depression for may years – here it is (below). You can find some other testimonials people have written about me here. If you yourself have found my teachings or writings helpful and would like to write a testimonial, please feel free to submit one via the contact page,

With love

Here is the testimonial from Michael:

I had struggled with depression and anxiety for 30 years of my life. Then I was introduced to spiritual practices and they really helped to improve my life and even cured my depression. I still struggled with anxiety though and wanted to deepen my practice and progress along the Buddhist path. After several years though, it became apparent that I was no longer making progress and I started feeling like spiritual practices were a waste of time. In addition, I started struggling with a health condition that caused me a lot of pain and discomfort and my meditation practice was making it worse.

Then I found Tom. In our first meeting together he pointed out what I had been doing wrong in my practices and set me back on the path in the right direction. Tom is the real thing! In just a few meetings with him I have made more progress than I could have imagined. My anxiety is nearly gone and the pain from my health condition has improved. I am eternally grateful for his kindness, insight, wisdom, vast knowledge, and guidance. Without him I would still be lost.

New testimonial

Below is a testimonial I have just received. I’m always grateful to receive a testimonial from someone who has benefited from what I share. Writing a testimonial is not only a wonderful way to express thanks, but it is an opportunity to reflect on the impact the teachings have made. It’s also nice for me to see how what I share has positively affected others, and to share that with you too.

I have been working in 1 to 1 sessions with people around the world over the last few years, and many have found that in just a few sessions they are able to find great clarity where perhaps before there was varying degrees of confusion.

If you would like to read other testimonials click here. Or if you have been positively impacted by what I share and would like to write a testimonial, or arrange a 1 to 1 session with me, then please contact me using the contact link above.

Here is the testimonial I received today:

‘I chanced upon Tom’s website at a very interesting time in my journey. I had studied traditional Vedanta for many years. I had some good understanding about the concepts and was doing some serious self inquiry or Atma Vichara. That’s when I started tying myself into all sorts of knots. I wasted a lot of time confused by concepts and was in a very frustrated place until I spoke to Tom.

I believe things happen for a reason and you meet the right people at the right time in the journey. Within a couple of sessions, Tom was able to help me unravel some of these knots. As the layers started peeling off and more layers and depth opened up the journey started taking a different shape. Throughout this, Tom was able to ask just the right question and clarified many concepts that would have otherwise taken a life of their own.

I found his teaching style refreshingly down to earth and humble and since he was able to speak from his direct experience, it made everything so real and relatable.’
